9/2 - Lauren started horseback lessons from Suzie Hansen on Nana's horse Boomer.
9/5 - Will and Owen wanted to play hockey this year. We went to the first preseason skate session to try it out and they promptly changed their minds and opted for karate instead.
Right after hockey we made a Costco stop and Owen found "Fuzzy Wuzzy" and bought him with his own money. That evening we headed up to Bear Lake for Labor Day weekend and of course, the bear had to make the trip with us!
While in Bear Lake we did some hiking to Bloomington Lake:
Even doing homework with this view isn't too bad...
The Turner family joined us for the second night of our stay:
This picture cracks me up because all the kids are zoned out "watching" Sophia the First with Sarah.
Monday at the beach was perfect!! A fabulous end to a wonderful weekend trip!
9/11-9/13: Matt and Greg gave Biffy and I a trip to Zions for our birthdays. Matt and I were there the first day by ourselves and did the 8 mile hike to Observation Point that we've never been able to fit in with our kids. It was incredible but at about mile 3 1/2 on the way up I was toast (that's the picture where I'm pointing a gun to my head - boy howdy I was worn out!) The hike was 660 ft higher in elevation than Angel's Landing (the most famous Zions hike - in the picture of Matt and I together you can see the summit of Angel's just below my left shoulder).
Matt snuck this picture of me the next morning enjoying the sunshine while we ate breakfast outside... this is what vacation's all about!!
Biffy and Greg arrived and we headed out to a guided canyoneering tour. It was SO awesome. The pictures will speak for themselves...
That night we went to a fabulous dinner (can't remember the name) and then we saw "Sister Act" at Tuachan.
The next morning Biffy and Greg hiked Angel's Landing but I was still worn out from the other hikes so we separated and Matt and I did a quick hike to the Emerald Pools. It was a fabulous trip that we want to make tradition.
9/13: Bradley got asked to the Halloween dance by an adorable gal from our ward named Hanalee.
9/17: Matt and I went to a fundraising gala for the Hope Lodge (a facility that houses people going through cancer treatments at Huntsman).
9/19: The boys started karate lessons at Fighting Brother's Karate. They love it!! If you pay for 2 members of your family to take lessons then you get a family pass... Matt, Lauren, and I have all started taking classes as well. This picture is from their 10 year anniversary open house. They had board breaking, bouncy houses, hot dogs, etc.
9/21: Owen has been really getting into geocaching this month. We've had some fun adventures finding them around our neighborhood.
9/21: Lauren and I went to Comic Con with Amber and her daughter Ashlyn. The first picture is of all of us piled onto a rickshaw on our way to the conference. Lauren and Ashlyn were totally in their element and loved every minute of it!
9/28: Lauren and her YW leader, Sherry Summers, have been trying to track down the nightly movements of this rooster for weeks to see how he gets up into the tree to roost. Tonight was the night we all witnessed it.
9/30: And... I finished off the month with a bang by making 6 batches of raspberry freezer jam. Yowza!!
Yay for new posts!!! :) Bless your heart that you can remember as far back as September. :))
ReplyDeleteThe hikes were beautiful but Ty and I had the same reaction...claustrophobia! and after that, SLOT CANYONS!!!??? HELLO?! We are fans of hikes but you all must be in way better shape to do that many long rigorous hikes in such a short amount of time. I guess the Popi and I are getting old.:)
We love seeing all the fun things you are doing! :)
