October 2 - Lagoon Frightmares: My favorite part of the night was riding in the musical express with Will (that's the third pic below). We were giggling the entire time.
October 5 - Doctor Visit for Owen: Owen had this huge rash on his face that started spreading further. I can't remember what it was but we got an antibiotic and a topical cream.
October 9 - Vanguard: Lauren gave a report on Romania in VG and made these treats (called Amandina) and painted this watercolor of an old Romanian church. I was totally impressed with both and she did a great job with her presentation.
October 10 - Karate Pumpkin Slicing Party: Our karate place rocks!
October 16 - Apple Orchard with the Turners: Biffy took all the pictures in the orchard, so the first one is the only one I've got there, but who needs those pics when you can focus on the caramel goodness in the following picture?! Ya gotta love fresh, fall apples!
October 17 - Debate Tournament @ BYU - Bradley, Matt and Will were in Colorado for an Eagles hockey tournament so Owen came with me to support Lauren in her first debate tournament. In between Lauren's speeches, this is how Owen entertained himself. Lauren competed in "Impromptu" and came in 3rd place!!
October 24 - Yard work... way to go boys!
And that afternoon... Lauren had a Halloween party at the riding arena. She dressed as the Mad Hatter and Boomer was wearing a blanket with plastic tea cups sewed onto it. (Thanks to her teacher for lending us the blanket!) The party was a success but Lauren had a scare when she went too fast on Boomer (she was in a race and this girl is competitive!) and she fell off. I was so proud of how Lauren handled falling off Boomer - she was more worried about him than she was of herself and the next lesson, she rode with very little hesitation.
And later that night, Bradley went to his first date-dance with Hanalee Hollingsworth. She's a gal in our neighborhood that our entire family adores. It was nice that Bradley could go on his first date with a friend from the ward that he felt comfortable with.
October 26 - Annual Nord Halloween Party. Matt was Charlie Chaplin and I was Betty Boop. Lauren was Harry Potter (she's decided that she'll always dress up as Harry for this party). The boys had a sign that went with their costumes and Bradley, aka Donald Trump held it. The sign read, "George Washington helped to found this great country, the Union Soldiers helped ensure freedom for ALL people of the country... You don't even want to know my plans for the country..." Ha ha, it was lame humor and Bradley was kind of embarrassed holding it, but I thought it was funny.
October 30 - I had a gift card and a groupon to Color Me Mine that expired at the end of the month so I took the three youngest there to paint some ceramics. They loved it and I had fun painting as well, but I've got to say, even with the gift card and the groupon, it was still annoyingly pricey!!
Later that afternoon Owen carved his pumpkin. He'd been begging for weeks to carve them and we kept putting him off... poor youngest child gets the shaft sometimes on holiday traditions but dang if he isn't just the cutest thing!!
And that evening, we went to a trunk-or-treat party at the karate dojo. (Have I mentioned how much we all LOVE that place?! Seriously, it is the best!!) The kids could show off a "funny form" of their own creation, the first picture is of Owen showing his. The second picture was zombie circle tag, it was a fun game I'd never seen before. After the games, hot chocolate, and doughnuts, everyone headed outside to the trunk or treat; some of the decor was incredible... get a load of that dragon!
And then, of course, the next day was Halloween and I forgot to take any pictures at all... but it was a great night.
